Who We Are

The Animal Health Clinic provides free and discounted patient care to the Heartland Humane Society, Paws To Love Rescue and Yankton Animal Control as well as a few other rescue organizations. We support the local 4-H program and speak at local school and college career days. We are also an active member of the Yankton Chamber of Commerce and financially support the Progressive Growth campaigns.

Our Wellness Services

At the Animal Health Clinic, we strive to give your pet the care that they need and deserve. We recommend yearly wellness exams for every pet, although pets under 6 months of age will visit us multiple times as they come in for their vaccination boosters. Elderly pets with existing health issues may also require more frequent visits to maximize the quality of life they experience. Some pets require yearly vaccinations, while lower risk pets may only need to get vaccinated every few years. Although we may not vaccinate every pet yearly, it is essential to keep current on their exams to ensure we catch any illnesses early on, resulting in a happier, extended life of your pet. We also offer services such as microchipping, nail trims, and the opportunity to discuss behavioral and nutritional issues you may have questions about.

Below you will find information about additional services our clinic offers.

Surgery and Procedures

The Animal Health Clinic performs a variety of procedures including spaying, neutering, dentistry and more.

We always aim for the highest quality of care. The anesthetic(s) used in each case are tailored to each pet to provide the safest option that allows for the quickest recovery time. Intravenous fluids and medications are provided when necessary and monitoring equipment is used on all patients. Pets are closely monitored during and after surgery while recovering. Recovery time varies depending on the procedure performed, as well as discharge instructions and take-home medications.

Animal Diagnostics

We offer on site radiographs, hand developed by us to ensure prompt results delivered to our clients.

Our Electrocardiograph (EKG) machine is not only used when there is a suspected heart function problem, but it also monitors pulse, blood oxygenation, blood pressure, temperature and respirations.

We have on site laboratory testing to run blood tests and and serum profiles, as well as specialty blood tests to check for horomone levels or disease titers.

We offer Laser Therapy to enhance your pet's overall quality of life. It employs deep-penetrating light to promote pain relief and stimulate healing. Laser Therapy can be used to treat a multitude of problems, and it is totally pain free and comforting for animals.
