Who We Are
The Animal Health Clinic provides free and discounted patient care to the Heartland Humane Society, Paws To Love Rescue and Yankton Animal Control as well as a few other rescue organizations. We support the local 4-H program and speak at local school and college career days. We are also an active member of the Yankton Chamber of Commerce and financially support the Progressive Growth campaigns.
Our Wellness Services
At the Animal Health Clinic, our goal is to provide your pet with the compassionate, high-quality care they deserve. We recommend annual wellness exams for all pets to support lifelong health and early detection of potential concerns. Puppies and kittens under six months of age will visit us more frequently as they complete their vaccination series, while senior pets or those with ongoing medical conditions may benefit from additional visits to maintain their quality of life.
Vaccination needs vary based on each pet’s lifestyle and risk level—some pets require yearly vaccines, while others may only need them every few years. Even when vaccinations are not due annually, regular wellness exams are essential to identify health issues early and promote a longer, happier life for your pet.
In addition to preventive care, we offer services such as microchipping, nail trims, and guidance on behavioral and nutritional concerns, giving you the support you need at every stage of your pet’s life.

Surgery and Procedures
The Animal Health Clinic offers a wide range of procedures, including spaying, neutering, dental care, and more.
Our team is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care for every pet. We carefully tailor anesthetic protocols to each individual patient, ensuring the safest possible experience and a smooth, speedy recovery. When needed, intravenous fluids and medications are administered, and all patients are closely monitored with advanced equipment throughout their procedure.
Following surgery, pets are attentively supervised during recovery. Recovery time can vary depending on the procedure, and our team provides detailed discharge instructions along with any necessary take-home medications to support a comfortable healing process.
Diagnostics
Radiography (X-rays) is a valuable diagnostic tool that allows us to look inside your pet’s body to help identify health concerns that may not be visible during a physical exam. We offer in-house radiology services to support an accurate diagnosis and our high-quality care.
Radiographs are painless, non-invasive, and use very low levels of radiation, making them safe for pets of all ages. Radiographs help our team evaluate bones and internal organs to help diagnose fractures, bladder stones, arthritis, tumors, and other medical conditions. Our experienced and compassionate team uses radiographs to help determine the best treatment plan for your pet’s health and comfort.
Electrocardiograph (EKG) is a valuable diagnostic machine and monitoring tool used to assess more than just heart function. While it plays an important role in evaluating suspected cardiac concerns, our machine also allows us to continuously monitor the pulse rate, blood oxygen levels, blood pressure, temperature, and respiratory function.
We have on site laboratory testing to run blood tests and and serum profiles, as well as specialty blood tests to check for hormone levels or disease titers.
We offer Laser Therapy to enhance your pet's overall quality of life. It employs deep-penetrating light to promote pain relief and stimulate healing. Laser Therapy can be used to treat a multitude of problems, and it is totally pain free and comforting for animals.
Online Store
We have an online store available for you to get food, medications, preventatives, and more sent directly to your home. This allows you to take care of your pet at any time of day, not just during our clinic hours.
The food available on our store includes Hills Brands, Royal Canin, Blue Natural, and Purina. Medications available are the same as what we offer in clinic - if you can get it in the clinic, you can get it online!
